University of Leicester, The Economic and Social Research Council - Convict Graphic Novella: 'The Story of the Makam Dato Koyah'

I worked with historian Professor Clare Anderson at Leicester University and the Dato Koyah Heritage Association in Penang, to tell the story of a Georgetown shrine built for a man transported as a convict from India to Malaysia in the early 1800s.

In the form of a graphic novella, the audience is young children who might be interested in the heritage site. The story is in the form of an 8-page graphic novella, with explanatory notes and historical source material. The audience is young children who might be interested in local heritage. There are plans to have the pamphlet printed for visitors to the recently renovated shrine.
